Before Falkor, Atreyu and The Neverending Story and with all the heart and wonder of The Chronicles of Narnia, there was Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time". Join Meg Murry, her brilliant brother Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin as they leap across the universe on a daring mission to rescue Meg's missing father. Guided by the mysterious Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, the trio confronts shadowy forces, strange worlds and the darkness threatening to swallow everything. This unforgettable production blends time-travel, adventure, imagination, and heart-reminding us that love can overcome even the deepest evil and that courage often comes from embracing who we truly are.
The production is an inter-generational ensemble play with a large cast and crew. The minimum age permitted is set for students in the 3rd grade, for the ability to understand the play. If you have other lower elementary students that you think would enjoy it, please discuss with us when you place your reservation. Upper Elementary students and above, and adults as well, will enjoy the play. Remember, Harry Potter was a young adult novel, and many adults read and enjoyed that story. Published in 1962 it became the winner of the Newbery Medal, the Sequoyah Book Award, the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award, and was runner-up for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. It was adapted for film in 2003 and again in 2018 with Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which. The Grove Public Library, and other libraries in the district, have copies of the novel in many formats including the 2018 film.
